Considering the alarming rise in Sextortion scams, it is crucial for our community to come together and ensure that our children understand that no scam is worth risking their lives for.
In 2022 alone, there were 7,000 Sextortion scams, resulting in numerous suicides. These heartbreaking statistics shed light on the severity of Sextortion scams. Consequently, we strongly encourage parents to utilize the various available resources specifically designed to educate children about Sextortion.
Through the Be Cyber Smart educational plans, our primary recommendation to parents is to initiate conversations with their children about scams. While monitoring children’s online activities may be challenging, it remains essential. These schemes are cunning, and helping children identify the criminals is of utmost importance.
